Please tell us about you and your brand and how it all began.
I have been a facialist in Hollywood for more than 20 years, and my skincare line was born out of the need to perfect the outcome of my facial treatments. What started as a passion project turned into a cult favorite—there was an exciting and convoluted journey from a treatment room expert to formulating a globally loved skincare line. An independent line founded by a skin professional matters because it offers pure skincare with zero hype. Brands without this background inevitably lose touch somewhere.

Celebrities like Billie Eilish name you as their absolute favorite. What makes Biba products so efficient?
There are 20 years of hands-on skin expertise in every bottle. The artisanal process involves a very careful formulation, and my products are not mass-produced. The mission has always been 100% passion, 0% trends.

What is the most common mistake people make in skincare?
Not taking skincare seriously can affect the health of the entire body. Doing nothing, using the wrong products, or overdoing it can have adverse effects. Following trends from TikTok theorists often results in skin damage, overspending, and zero improvement.

What does a minimal yet effective skincare routine look like?
Cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a face mask.

What is most important for good skin besides the products?
A healthy body—healthy gut and a healthy mind.

Where do you see the future of skincare?
In the past 30 years, we’ve gone from steam and cream to skincare modalities and novel, beneficial ingredients that treat various skin conditions. There’s no going back to denying that skincare IS important; it’s working, and it’s going to keep evolving. There are so many ingredients out there addressing mood, cellular senescence, glycation, and pigmentation—it’s so exciting to imagine how humans will look in the next 30 years.

Would you consider yourself on the minimalistic side or "more is more"?
When asked if I'm a minimalist with skincare, my answer is absolutely yes. I know a lot about skincare products. Skin is a living organ, and just like you wouldn’t take several supplements without understanding their effects on your body, you shouldn’t layer skincare products without knowing how they’ll interact with each other or with your unique skin.

Which sunscreen can you recommend?
For mysterious reasons, the FDA has not approved new sun protective filters in 17 years, if I’m not mistaken. Our sunscreen offerings in the USA are tragic. Almost all sunscreen formulas are comedogenic, outrageously expensive, or not cosmetically elegant. They leave a cast or are hard to spread over the skin. I recommend Elta MD Clear and Round Labs Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen.

What are your favorite places to take a moment for yourself and relax (in Los Angeles)?
I have a nice setup at home where I do spa rituals. I have all sorts of wellness equipment, including an infrared sauna and a lymphatic drainage machine. For a spa away from my home spa, I recommend the Surya spa at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel.

What does well-being mean to you?
Well-being, to me, is about feeling truly alive—healthy, energetic, and full of enthusiasm. It’s not just the absence of illness; it’s that vibrant state where my mind, body, and spirit feel aligned. I live for those moments when I feel strong, clear-headed, and ready to tackle challenges and bring them across the finish line.
